type='text'>what should i choose?

I decided to choose local news and news from the state of Connecticut for my blogs because i feel that since my friends, family, teachers, peers and other people that i talk to live in the same area this might be an interest to them. i picked this topic mainly because i have lived in so many places around the area and my friends from different areas could read my blogs and find out information that they wouldn't normally look up. high school and even a lot of adults are starting to read blogs more and find it an easier way to get the news and information that would be important to them.

The first few places that i looked to get information, even before i picked a topic, was the New Haven Register, The Hartford Courant, The New York Times, and The Washington Post. i found many different articles that i was interested in. although i was interested in them they did not make me want to write about all of them. i found that the articles that were from the state of Connecticut were interesting to me because it was close to my home and may affect my school, work, family, or friends.

while choosing my exact topic i thought of writing things about just random stuff around town and Connecticut. i felt like that was to large of a topic. i began to think of different things to write about. my friend was already doing economic issues in the town and in Connecticut. i thought of laws and legal issues. there is many different small topics within a large topic including : gun laws, driving laws, drinking laws, and drug laws.

all of these smaller topics are important to people my age and older. this would be a helpful blog. during the next few weeks all of these topics will be blogged about.

Yet Another...

So as the weeks of school continue, we learn more about blogging. We have learned about new technology that teenagers wouldn't normally use. This is the first time that I have used any type of blog. I'm getting used to it now that I have been assigned to do it for class. We can use blogging as a form of a "quiet debate". We can write down our ideas about almost anything really and be able to leave a comment or respond to other students ideas. We learn how to write about important topics and have fun with it rather than know that it is a writing assignment that needs to be handed in, in a formal way.

I would much rather write blogs as assignments than writing a page and a half in MLA format knowing that I will be judged on what I write about. Blogs are completely different. I can give my opinion on things and still give all the facts that are needed. People can judge my work, but I think of it as "constructing criticism". I feel like people learn better when debates are started and other peoples knows facts and comments are made.

People would rather read a blog or journal entry, where they can place their own comments, than a book or a huge news article. People want short facts about the important stuff. I feel like people like to hear others comments and blogs are the most perfect way in doing that. The only down side of having blogs are people can abuse the blogs and not put true statements, or become blog bullies.

So Far..

In our Journalism class the most important thing that we have learned, in my opinion, has been how to identify the different parts of a news article. I don't feel like the most interesting parts of class were what we learned, but what we are able to do. I feel like the activities like going on line and playing games and writing blogs, are good ways to help us learn how to become journalists. What I find the most important thing that us as students need to remember is that journalists need facts. They need to put only facts in their articles and attract readers to follow the story.

I hope to continue learning about different ways to present an article. I would also like to learn how to respond to a blog and giving mostly facts and a little of my opinion. This is going to be a tough task for me because I usually give a lot of my opinion all the time. I would like to continue playing the games on the Internet because I feel that it really showed us that we may have to go back to the same source three or four times, even if the source gets mad, to get every piece of information that we could possibly get. Finally, I would like to continue bringing in news articles of "Breaking News" once a week. It helps us learn to follow the news more and not be in "our own world" and realize what is going on outside of our homes.
